Here are two book covers for another new series I wrote and am currently illustrating for Rourke Publishing. Titles TBA... I am also busy revising my new middle-grade novel and organizing the SCBWI Oregon spring conference which takes place May 18-19, 2012. It's a busy winter!

I've been playing with collage again. This is a spread from a picture book I am circulating called WHAT DO THEY DREAM? I don't know if it will ever find a home since picture books are so hard to sell these days, but all we can do is keep trying!

I have been busy trying a new style of art, for me anyway: collage. I have several concept book ideas that seem to lend themselves well to the media. This is from MY DOG COUNTS, a book about numbers and shapes.

My new nature series will be released in 2011! The series is called AMAZING ANIMAL SKILLS and includes five titles:
SPITS AND SQUIRTS - How Animals Squirt to Survive
SNIFFS AND STINKS - How Animals Use Odor to Survive
SCREAMS AND SONGS - How Animals Communicate to Survive
LEAPS AND CREEPS - How Animals Move to Survive (2012 Finalist for the Animal Behavior Society's Annual Children's Book Award)
MOVERS AND SHAPERS - How Animals Build and Use Tools to Survive
These are 48 page books that cover a lot of amazing examples of animal behavior and abilities. It took a while to sell this idea, but after grossing out a number of editors, Marshall Cavendish/Benchmark gave the books a home. I am very excited to see them all come together!

One of my new books, What's the Difference Between a Butterfly and a Moth?, received a Teacher's Choice Award for 2010 from the International Reading Association! I'm author, not illustrator. The illustrations are amazing. Publisher is Picture Window Books.

Here is one example of the 90 full-page spreads I completed in 2008 for my new mystery series. See if you can figure out which title this is: The Case of the Missing Goldfish, The Case of the Grumpy Chicken, The Case of the Haunted House, The Case of the Museum Mystery, The Case of the Shifting Stacks, and The Case of the Garden Caper.

All six titles from the Furlock and Muttson Mysteries are available now through Magic Wagon, a division of the ABDO Group (www.abdopublishing.com) or from your educational wholesaler. Which one is my favorite? At this point, I love them all! I hope that you do, too.
